A while back, I set a goal to finish up some projects that have been sitting for too long! Do you have any of those? ;-) I am enjoying the feeling of accomplishment I get every time I finish a lingering project and I find that it frees up my creativity to move on to new ideas. There are still some projects left in my UFO bin that I hope to have done in time for Christmas (maybe even to use as a gift for someone on my list). In the mean time, I have a couple that I want to show you. Do you remember the projects I started with the Alto's Circle Cutter and Oval Templates back in August? If not, you can get caught up here. They're finished! I used Sulky 30wt Cotton with Sulky PolyLite in the bobbin to applique/quilt the petals, centers and chain links. When I say applique/quilt I mean that I fused everything in place and then layered the top with the batting and backing so that when I secured everything with stitching, it quilted it too! I finished the quilting with Sulky PolyLite thread in the top and bobbin. I used Sulky 30wt Cotton thread with Sulky PolyLite in the bobbin to applique/quilt the rings and Sulky Premier Invisible Monofilament thread with the PolyLite again in the bobbin to finish quilting it.
Both of these pieces were fun, and honestly I'm not sure why it took me as long as it did to get them finished. I guess that's just how it is though...life just gets busy! ;-) So what project are you going to pull out of a drawer or box and finish? Hopefully you have been inspired to finish up a lingering project or two of your own!

I started this project quite a while ago and taught it to a group of ladies locally who wanted something more challenging. (For those of you just tuning in, you can read the rest of my posts about it here.) We trudged through it for several months and I have been forgetting to follow up and show you proof that I did get it together: I'm not sure just exactly how I will quilt it, but I am happy to say that my nights are a little more
"peaceful" now that I have the top finished! :-) As my husband would say: "Doneski!"...well almost! :-) |
